In the background being built is the Collegiate Grammar School for Girls. This was located at the junction of Beech Avenue and Forest Gate. The girls moved to the boys Grammar School, Blackpool Old Road, Little Carleton in 1971. At one stage the school was also known as Tyldesley School. See the Facebook website "Survivors of Tyldesley High School (in Blackpool)". The site has several photographs of the schools demolition. This original photograph has been touched-up as you can also clearly see on the sky line to the right of the tower the location of the Big Wheel which has been painted out. Demolition of the 200ft diameter wheel started in November 1928. It's carriages were sold for ?13 each. Stanley Park was opened by Lord Derby, K,G on 02 October 1926.
